Starlink Referral Program: How Service Credits Work

Starlink Referral Program: How Service Credits Work

Starlink’s referral program lets eligible Residential and Roam customers earn service credit when a new customer signs up through their personal referral link. Starlink’s current official help page describes a bill credit rather than a cash payout. It also says the credit is applied 30 days after the referred customer activates and remains a paid customer for at least one month.

How a Starlink referral works

An eligible customer signs in to the Starlink app or website and opens the Referrals area. In the app, Starlink may label the option “Free month for you and them.” The customer copies the unique referral link and shares it with someone who has never had a Starlink account.

The new customer must order a Starlink Kit through that link and activate an eligible Residential or Roam plan. Starlink says the referral must be made within the same country. A U.S. customer, for example, should refer another U.S. customer.

What the referrer receives

Starlink’s current program documentation says the referrer receives a service credit. Thirty days after the referred customer activates, the credit is applied to the referrer’s account and then deducted from the next invoice. The official page does not describe a cash-payout option, so customers should not expect money deposited into a bank account.

The value shown in the customer’s Referrals screen controls. Starlink can change program terms, availability, or rewards, so review the current offer before sending a link.

Who is eligible

  • The referrer must have an eligible Residential or Roam subscription.
  • The referred customer must be new to Starlink and must never have been an existing Starlink customer.
  • The referred customer must purchase a Starlink Kit through the unique referral link.
  • The referred customer must remain a paid customer for at least one month after activation.
  • The referral must be within the same country.

Starlink says referral credits apply to Residential and Roam subscriptions. Other account and service types may not qualify.

Purchases that do not qualify

A kit purchased from a reseller is not eligible for the referral program, even if a referral link is used during activation. To protect the referral, the new customer should begin at the personal link and complete the kit purchase directly through Starlink.

Account transfers and previously used accounts can also fall outside the published new-customer requirement. If the order screen does not clearly show the referral offer, pause before paying and check Starlink support.

When the credit appears

The current official timeline is 30 days after activation, provided the new customer remains paid for the required month. The credit then reduces the referrer’s next invoice. It is not described as an instant credit on the day the order is placed.

Keep the confirmation email and watch the referral status in the account portal. If the credit does not appear after the published period, use Starlink’s support system and provide the referral and activation details available in the account.

How to verify the current offer

Program language can change. Sign in directly rather than relying on a screenshot or an old social-media post. Confirm that the Referrals option appears, read the benefit displayed for both accounts, and review the qualifying plan and kit requirements. If the offer shown in the account differs from this guide, follow the current Starlink screen.

Before sharing a referral link

  1. Confirm that your account currently shows the referral option.
  2. Read the reward displayed in your account; it may change over time.
  3. Tell the new customer to use the link before beginning the purchase.
  4. Confirm that both accounts are in the same country.
  5. Make sure the order is for an eligible Residential or Roam plan and a directly purchased kit.
  6. Allow at least 30 days after activation for the credit to be applied.

Compare the full cost before ordering

A referral credit can lower a bill, but it does not replace an address-level comparison. Check the monthly plan, equipment terms, taxes, shipping, and any location-based surcharge shown at checkout.
